Actress Francia Raisa Gives “Ultimate Gift and Sacrifice” to Friend and Celebrity Selena Gomez

This is what sisterhood looks like. Selena Gomez revealed this week that she underwent a kidney transplant over the summer and thanked her good friend and “sister” Francia Raisa for the blessing of a new kidney.

“There aren’t words to describe how I can thank my beautiful friend,” she said. “She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me.” Selena’s kidney failure is a direct result of her lifelong battle with lupus, an autoimmune disorder that causes inflammation to body tissues. There is currently no cure for lupus.

We’re happy to report that Selena and Francia are both recovering well. They are proof that the bonds of sisterhood cannot be broken.
